Hehe, I'm a bit of a tease, it's true. Actually, there is a photo of HS in the bath but I'm damned if I can find it!

Whilst researching my new loadout and doing that google thing, I ended up on servreal reenactor forums. I must say I was shocked, the level of petty argueing and quoting masive list of war crimes at each other. Some of the posts were even bodering on racist but between members of the same forum. I came back here and lurked thankfully that the mods are as efficient as they are!

Pre jellibaff topic was to do with comments made on the Dog Company forum unless anyone hadn't already guessed...

I won't personally be there however I do think that a meet up at WAP would be an excellent idea and could provoke some kind of mutual understanding between the two forums. I do not believe that using phrases like 'cock snorklers' is a productive way of promoting any relationship between two groups, thats not my opinion either, it's a fact.

There are certain things which must be accepted, members left the forum because they were being called things like disrespectful to the vets of units they were portraying by not having their belt straight or wearing their cap wrong. That's not an opinion either, that's a fact. It is quite one thing to be called scruffy and advised to wear something differently...it's another thing to call someone disrespectful of a unit which they admire intensely and was out of order on SO many levels.

Also,it may have occured to the odd person but no one wants to portray the 753rd auxillary grave diggers because they didn't do bugger all (I have picked a fictional unit so no one can say 'well yes they did and i bet they'd be really offended at that!') they want to portray units which fought in the front lines, had a certain amount of infamy attached to them. Yes you've guessed it I'm talking about the 101st AIRBORNE DIV!
Which ever way you swing it there will always be LOTS of Airborne guys because the 101 was a high profile unit which made the papers fought hard and got stuck somewhere really snowy for 6 weeks with next to no food, ammo, warm clothes, shelter or aid and still sent how many German Division packing. It may have escaped people but they also made a TV series about some of the blokes, very brave people who I'm sure would love to hear airsofters saying they only fought in so many battles so no one should portray them because 'they didn't do that much anyway.' Being Airborne is fashionable, the kits comfortable and the history is interesting and exciting unlike that of the 753rd Auxillary grave diggers who dug graves and nicked supplies and picked their noses at a competative level. There will ALWAYS be more guys portraying them end of conversation, deal with it because no amount of moaning is going to change it.

Did you ever think that people might not feel that they can talk openly because they will get openly slated and their opinion will not be taken on board it will just be squashed and denied OR alternatively that people make a comment in jest and they are then made a mockery of for no reason. It's worth not forgetting that fair enough to call them 'Keyboard Warriors' BUT there's plenty of them on here with big egos and light fingers who wouldn't be half as confident in person.

I am trying to be as diplomatic as possible, I don't want to offend, I don't want an argument. I have contacted Mods so that they know my position as a member of Dog Co. and I will continue to debate any points I have made as far as it is necessay HOWEVER as is, it seems, customary on this forum so often, any snide remarks and I will not bother because that is the reason that people get very VERY tired of other people on forums.

I really do think you're missing the point here.

Most people's choice of loadouts is dependent on what inspires them and the 101st is clearly a very inspirational unit, whichever way you look at it. No argument there.

Trouble is the 101st weren't at every part of the WWII conflict - so if that's the ONLY unit you ever want to represent then it becomes a limitation, no? Everyone has to make their own decisions but considering how "niche" WWII airsofting is it doesn't seem to make any sense to make that niche even smaller. Just my opinion.

members left the forum because they were being called things like disrespectful to the vets of units they were portraying by not having their belt straight or wearing their cap wrong. That's not an opinion either, that's a fact.

I haven't seen any post on this forum that has come anywhere close to that. However if people left because that's how they felt then surely the answer is to raise the topic with the people concerned instead bitching about it of on a private forum.

I think that this whole thing has run its course and this is going to be my last post on this topic.
